How teacher leaders think differently about parents: A mixed methods approach

The present study firstly explores teacher mental images and understandings of the concepts ‘parent’ through metaphor analysis secondly examines how leaders differ in terms perceptions about ‘parents. primary objective this is to uncover leaders' implicit attitudes ‘parents’ order contribute parental involvement initiatives undertaken by teacher. adopts a mixed-design methodology. Teacher were identified Leadership Behavior Scale metaphors evaluated using content method. research was conducted with 89 teachers. presents several significant findings. Metaphor revealed teachers perceive parents different seven distinction roles, which imply positive, neutral negative attitude: partner / nurturer (positive), supporter observer (neutral), student mirror inspector (negative), Machiavellist (negative) antagonist (negative). These roles indicate three types involvement, ranging from ‘active participation’ (positive) ‘passive ‘adversarial Statistical that leaders, high scorers as leadership behavior scale, have more positive attitude towards than low scorers. Overall, these findings can be utilized educational researchers working similar domains, providing valuable insights into teachers’ view contributing enhancement practices.
